Network Security

I am going to be studying more for a Network Security specialization which I want to develop over time. This would be for things like the Network Security Engineer role. Doing Network Security has to be gradual for me over time. I’m thinking that the way that I am doing certifications needs to be slower and more gradual. There are some certifications that I will need for this specialization.

The certifications that I am planning for are more specialized. I will be going down to the Associate level in my Cisco studies and wait to do the ENCOR and SCOR. These certifications are where I was but I can go more steady and clear the CCNA and CyberOps Associate (Cybersecurity Associate) exams. For the CyberOps Associate the exam counts as a year deduction for the CISSP if you pass.

Certifications

I am wanting to do the Security+, however the stackable cert from CompTIA would need the Network+. This is what I am expecting for the CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist. With the Network+ exam, I can get this and also add the CompTIA IT Operations Specialist stackable cert to my repertoire. The Tech+ is also coming out next year and I would like to re-certify to this for my ITF+.

There are many things that I can do and I am wanting to beef up some of my Microsoft certifications and clear the AZ-900 and the MD-102 this coming year. For my Cisco certifications I would like to pass the CCNA, the CyberOps Associate and the CCST: IT Support. These certifications will be helpful and I can get to my Certified in Cybersecurity exam later on after these ones.

CloudX Conference

I went to the last day of the CloudX conference and had no difficulty with my anxiety going to four online talks about Security, Cloud and AI topics. I thought that the layout was much cleaner for the UI/UX and would do the free online expo again for CloudX next year which would mark the third time that I’ve gone to it.

Conclusion

I am getting to where I can specialize and think that the intersection of Computer Networking and Cybersecurity is where I want to take my career when I am able to work again. Until then, I am studying and reading books to get closer to my dream job which is a CTO, CIO or CISO role in a technology company. I will take my path and go on the journey to my dream job.
