GSEC

I have been training for the GSEC exam which I am planning to do next year in February or March. This training has been somewhat tougher than I anticipated due to it being essentially five certifications that I am studying for in one certification. This might take longer and will allow me to become more knowledgeable in the cybersecurity realm. I have some time to figure out between studying and reading.

In the time that I have leftover I am looking at getting the CompTIA Network+ and studying for the CCNP ENCOR. These will allow me to progress in the Computer Networking field with the vendor neutral Network+ and the additional specialist certification from Cisco for the Enterprise Core exam.

There are some certifications that I may do anyways like the Certified in Cybersecurity and the CompTIA Security+. I am studying for the GSEC exam and these two would help me cement my knowledge in cybersecurity. I am also looking at completing the CompTIA Project+ training materials and may do that exam as well.

Training

For the training that I am doing on the weekend I am getting to the point where I have a good handle on the Project+ training materials. This is something that I have been studying during the week as well. There are some more things like the Linux Essentials and the DP-900 that I have been training on as well.

I am reading the All-in-One Security+ Exam Guide for the GSEC training and may want to do some more reading on Certified in Cybersecurity books next. Working on this certification that will help me do an exam attempt in the next month or so.

I am certain that I can pass on the second attempt. Thinking about how best to approach the certifications and came up with a plan for the Network+, the Certified in Cybersecurity, Project+ and the GSEC.

Conclusion

Doing these four certifications will help me get a good job when I am able to get back into IT. I think that the main initial certifications for cybersecurity include the Certified in Cybersecurity and the Security+.

Having thought more about the GSEC I think that I will approach the exam by taking two out of the five certifications. This will include the Certified in Cybersecurity and the Security+. I am also working on the Network+ and Project+ so I would like to accomplish those as well.
