Taking a New Path

Cybersecurity

I have been working on my cybersecurity training and want to go through some more certifications. I’ve decided to take a new path and go more towards the cybersecurity field by doing the Certified in Cybersecurity certification, and the Security+ for this year. Wanting to take some training on the three EC-Council essentials paths, the N|DE, E|HE, and the D|FE. Not doing the certifications on these three, however I am undecided on doing either the C|CT or the SC-900.

The C|CT is the EC-Council Certified Cybersecurity Technician and the SC-900 is a Microsoft Fundamentals certification. These two would take the place of the N|DE spot and will allow for a better slant towards cybersecurity. I am also interested in some Learning Paths on TryHackMe that would help me get an eventual cybersecurity job.

CCST: Networking Certification

Going for the Cisco exams as well this year and am taking a new path in my studies to a place where I can take the exam without anxiety happening. I am pushing myself through and taking the CCST: Networking exam on February 20, 2024. There are some things that I might need to study for this exam however I plan to just get to the point to take this exam and reflect on what I need to work on to pass it, if needed the next time.

Cybersecurity Certification Paths

I have been researching some of the cybersecurity certifications from Microsoft, CompTIA, ISC2 and EC-Council. I’ve found that these institutions offer the best value and training. If I eventually build up towards getting the CISSP, I would need to pass the SSCP on the way along with the CC certification. There are some solid certifications for cybersecurity at CompTIA and EC-Council.

Microsoft also offers some more security certifications like the SC-200, the AZ-500 and the SC-300 along with others. At CompTIA, the CASP+ is going to be replaced with the CybersecurityX certification sometime this year. In addition, CompTIA also offers the CySA+ and the PenTest+ certifications.

Conclusion

I am still taking the Network+ and plan to schedule it for March in order to get through the certification training. With the Network+ cleared I would work on the Certified in Cybersecurity and the CompTIA Security+ certifications to pass them by the end of the year. I will let you know how I did on the CCST: Networking exam.
