CCST: Cybersecurity Experience
Yesterday, I took the CCST: Cybersecurity exam and passed with a 900 needing 700 to pass. I had a relatively easy exam and worked through it at a good pace. Thinking that I passed at the end of the test was a self validation of my skill set. The questions really tested the breadth of the exam objectives with the key takeaways being updates and firmware updates along with having basic cybersecurity knowledge.
My experience was at home and I tried to calm myself down at the beginning of the test waiting in the queue. The online proctor was almost out of the picture and did a good job to do minimal contact. I like this due to my anxiety and have had a good experience with Certiport and Pearson. I did get a Certiport certificate on this exam since I passed both CCST Exams. It was the Network Security Support Technician path.
Additional Certifications from Cisco
I am kind of wanting to do the CCST: IT Support certification when it comes out later this month. Wanting to study for this and would need a book before I test for it. I am also looking at the CCNP level specialist certifications and found one that I might like to do after the ENCOR and ENARSI. This one is the Service Provider Cloud Networking Infrastructure or SPCNI exam. I think that for my specialty I would do SPCOR and SPRI and then go more into the SPCNI exam.
Cloud Networking
In addition to the SPCNI exam, I have been looking at the cloud networking solutions that I want to go into more. There are some solid certifications in this area of cloud networking with Azure, GCP, and AWS having certifications on this. Other ones to do would be the CompTIA Network+ and Cloud+ to get ready for the CloudNetX certification coming out from CompTIA at the end of the year.
Conclusion
I am wanting to do some basic certifications to get more into the cloud networking field. This will help me establish an expertise in cloud networking and will most likely allow me to be a contractor later in my career. I am working on the things that I need to now in order to provide for a better career. I am also doing the Certified in Cybersecurity exam on July 9th, 2024 and will take the CCNA exam sometime in late August or early September.
