Certification Planning and Locking

Certified in Cybersecurity Study

Having to study similar material with the CCST: Cybersecurity makes the Certified in Cybersecurity easier to study for. I’ve been doing the rest of the CCST: Cybersecurity training, on the CBT Nuggets Adept platform, which is helpful along with the Thor Pederson Certified in Cybersecurity Course on Udemy in which I am nearly done. Doing the exam on July 9th, 2024 at a testing center here in Aurora, Colorado.

There are some training items that I am sourcing from YouTube and LinkedIn Learning on the Certified in Cybersecurity with my study plan. Making a study plan is helpful if you do different instructors or authors in books, videos, or courses. This helps along with making a list that offers a way to keep track of your studying. There are some things that are specific to the exam objectives so knowing those items are important.

Certification Pathways

I have recently been doing some research on certifications and have decided to do the AZ-900 and the Linux Essentials after the Certified in Cybersecurity and CCNA exams. The four certifications will provide me with a good base level of certifications. On the AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals exam this is the first step toward the Azure Network Engineer Associate certification.

Adding the Linux Essentials certification from LPI will provide me with a way to do the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 later on. I am using a locking technique in which the next certification on the path is locked for a year to the day from when I passed the prerequisite exam. This is keeping me more focused and has brought some of my anxiety down.

Conclusion

I’m allowing myself to unlock the CCNA certification based on the locking technique not being effective for recertifying my CCNA. I am doing more of an analysis on these certifications and I might be able to pass the Certified in Cybersecurity exam when I am done with the items on my study plan. Looking at replacing the ITF+ exam that I passed in November 2022 with the new Tech+ exam when it comes out, as it is unlocked.
