Working on IT Manager Certifications
I have been working on some more certifications since the last blog post. These certifications are more for the IT Manager role. The certifications that I am working on are the ISO 20000 Foundation and the ISO 22301 Foundation from Certiprof. In addition, I am working on the Project+ for my CAPM studies and the CSSC Lean Six Sigma White Belt designation will help me with this.
I have chosen to complete some training and get the two Certiprof certifications to expand my skill set to include some IT Manager skills. The CAPM is going to be the big one that I do for this year and the Lean Six Sigma White Belt will help me out with project management and IT Manager roles. The certifications are somewhat of a departure from the Computer Networking skills that I have in my current skill set.
Certification Plans
The goals that I have for this year include the Certified in Cybersecurity and SC-900 certifications. I am planning on taking the SC-900 at the end of April and will have a third Microsoft Certification. The Lean Six Sigma White Belt is allowing me to take the test for free twice so I am wanting to complete that in the next month or two.
For the Certified in Cybersecurity certification, I will be waiting until after the ISO 22301 Foundation certification as this standard deals with business continuity. Business Continuity is one of the Domains that the CC cert has and will help me with achieving this certification. The CAPM is going to be happening later this year which is when I will sit for this exam.
Reading and Training
I am on the ninth book which is the CompTIA Cloud+ Certification Guide. Read the Mastering ISO/IEC 20000-1 book as the eighth book and will be reading the CompTIA Linux+ Certification Exam Guide next. I’ve been training on the SC-900 a little hard and should pass the first attempt in April. Doing some more training materials on the ISO 20000 standard as well as the Project+ that I will use to pass the PMI CAPM cert.
Conclusion
I will come back to my Computer Networking skills and have some time before my CCNA v1.1 expires in December of 2027. Either will go the CCNP ENCOR route or the Cisco Certified Cybersecurity Associate route to recertify. As far as my other certifications go I am recertified on my A+ until 2029 and will try to take the Security+ next year along with the Cisco cert that I choose.
