CompTIA Network+
I am going back to what I was doing last year around August and September. The main goal then was to pass the Network+ before the CCNA. There were some things that I was doing for the CCNA and the Network+ was a big part of my study plan. There are people that think that the CompTIA Network+ is unnecessary if you have a CCNA.
The people that are in that camp tend to agree with the YouTube videos promoting the CCNA for Networking roles and the Network+ for IT roles. I am wanting to get this certification now after the CCNA. A main reason that I am working on this certification is to get into more IT roles like Systems Administrator which is a DoD 8140.03 compliant certification for similar roles.
Another reason to get the Network+ is to get validation, both physical and social, for doing the training on the cert. I do think that I will pass the first time I take the test. This is also working for some of my plan with going after the CompTIA Network Infrastructure Professional (CNIP) certification. This needs the Network+ and the Server+ for the stackable certification.
Goals for ISC2 Certifications
I also have been working on too many certifications with my training being for the SC-900, Cybersecurity Associate, Security+, and the Certified in Cybersecurity. I am going to go for the Certified in Cybersecurity certification out of this group due to me doing my first attempt in July of 2024. Willing to put some more time in however I will need to refresh my knowledge of the material as it has been a while. This will be after the Network+ certification.
Reading Update
Reading is about where I want it, I finished reading the fifth book that was the Google Cloud Digital Leader book and am working on the CompTIA Network+ Exam Guide N10-007 as the sixth book. I am working on reading the books that will help me understand more IT Topics or will help me pass certification tests. I have an updated, somewhat, Exam Guide N10-008 book that I will read before the exam as well.
Conclusion
Willing to pass more certifications and will be going into more roles as a specialist level IT person. This will help me focus on the Network+, Server+ and some other certifications like the AZ-104 and the Certified in Cybersecurity exams. I think that I will eventually work on the Security+ which will get me a specialist stackable cert which includes the CompTIA trifecta that is the CompTIA Secure Infrastructure Specialist (CSIS) certification.
