TryHackMe
I am working on my progress in the SOC Level 1 Learning Path. There are three rooms left in this section of the path which is the Network Security and Traffic Analysis section. For the SOC Level 1 Path with 59% complete and in the Top 2% of TryHackMe, ranked at around 23,675 currently. I have also worked on the Jr. Penetration Tester Learning Path where I am about 89% complete.
HacktheBox
Working on some rooms within HacktheBox that are lower difficulty rooms like File Transfers, Introduction to Active Directory, and Introduction to Web Applications. Some of the rooms that I am stuck on my progress are the Intro to Network Traffic Analysis, Getting Started and JavaScript Deobfuscation rooms. I am at 18.79% complete of the SOC Analyst Job Role Path and am on my way to studying for the CDSA from HacktheBox.
Progress on Network Security
I’m looking into doing some CTF sites like HackerOne Hacker101 in addition to HacktheBox and TryHackMe. Getting better at cybersecurity and these sites are allowing me to challenge myself along with providing for a more Network Security Engineer type role in Computer Networking and Cybersecurity. I am also looking forward to getting more involved in professional organizations like ISC2. Still studying for the Certified in Cybersecurity exam and hope to take it next year.
Doing more reading for Cybersecurity and after the CCNA 200-301, Volume 2 book will be reading the SC-200 and SC-300 books from Microsoft regarding Security Operations and IAM topics that I need to work on before my second attempt for the Certified in Cybersecurity exam. I am trying to keep my progress on the CCNA and will get a voucher with a retake to provide assurance for this exam.
Conclusion
With my main goal of getting the CCNA this year, I am making good progress on this certification and will read the CCNA book before getting back into Microsoft IAM and Security Operations. I am considering going for the CyberOps Associate and the AZ-900 next year. The AZ-900 is only around $99 but doesn’t have a voucher. The CyberOps Associate is the next certification in the CyberOps pathway from Cisco.
Using some of my budget for some soft skills like the Microsoft Office Specialist: Associate certification to get some admin training and also the IC3 GS6 Level 1 for digital literacy to help me stand out from the pack. Thinking about doing some training for the Project+ in addition to Linux Essentials to help with the business side of an IT consulting firm and to help differentiate myself.
