Writing and Training Update

Writing Role

I have been doing a part-time writer role with my sole proprietorship, Aaron W. DeJong. In this role, I have been doing a new writing process that is using more of an outlined approach. By writing in this way it helps me as a non-fiction writer to work more on the technical writing aspect of writing. This is also a style and process choice as I tend to be more informative. The outline guides me through the article or blog post.

Owner and Network Security Influencer Roles

I’ve been working on the Owner role for three years and four months now. In this role, I have worked on many things to get the role correct including marketing, investments and business tasks. These tasks have brought me to the point where I am looking at entrepreneurial certifications to expand my skill set. I am going to do the Entrepreneurship and Small Business certification on Certiport to do this.

I am also working on my Network Security Influencer role on social media. This is something that I am doing as a top fan, and I am looking at other influencer strategies that will help me with this role. I am working on making a chapter outline for a future book in Network Security to expand my brand into self-publishing.

Training for GSEC

I have been working through my book list on the GSEC study plan. The book that I am on is the 22nd book that I have read this year. This book is the All-in-One GSEC book from McGraw Hill. For the training on the GSEC, I have been going through the Security+ and Certified in Cybersecurity training.

There is something that I am doing with Beacon now. Beacon is the training platform for Palo Alto Networks, and I am working through the Cybersecurity Apprentice training. I have also recently passed the Cybersecurity Fundamentals course from Palo Alto. The training for the Cybersecurity Apprentice is free currently on Beacon.

CAPM and CCNP ENCOR Training

Training for some other certifications like the CAPM and the CCNP ENCOR. I’m put together the study plan for each and want to do the CAPM first. I am studying the CAPM training and have passed most of the Project+ training which is part of the study plan. I bought two new books for the CAPM training in addition to the Project+ book that I had already. For the CCNP ENCOR, I have been slowly going into the training material on Udemy and LinkedIn Learning.

Conclusion

Thinking about how to work more effectively on my skill set and want to go more into business certifications. These training objectives are somewhat easier than the CCNA and will provide opportunities to develop my skill set. I think that the training for next year can include the COBIT certification training. For the CAPM, I am thinking that I could do it later in 2025.
